On Thursday, March 13th, a workshop titled “Innovation and Sustainability in the Hazelnut Supply Chain – Advanced Technologies and AI” was held at the Avellino campus of the University of Salerno.
The event presented the progress of the AI-NUT project, funded by the 3rd Call of the Industry 4.0 MedITech Competence Center, and involves the partnership of T.P.S., ASSOFRUTTI e e.i.t.d on innovative processes for the proper management of hazelnut cultivation and processing.

During the conference, Alfredo Massa, R&D Scientist at NetCom, the technological partner of the project, presented the intermediate results achieved and the ongoing solution (LINK).
The system uses images acquired through a dedicated mobile application and, thanks to advanced Artificial Intelligence techniques, aims to:
- Variety recognition from leaf and/or fruit images
- Detection of nutritional deficiencies
- Identification of major plant diseases
