This is a hardware/software solution designed to manage waste accumulation. It is a monitoring system for "roll-off containers" developed to autonomously manage and monitor mobile equipment. It enables geolocation, full-level measurement, and communication, with fire alerts or activation notifications for roll-off bins or compactors. The system operates through machine-to-machine communication with a backend platform, providing interactive services to users via a frontend interface. Key features include the identification and geolocation of each bin, permanent installation of a dedicated system for each container/compactor, reporting of fill levels to facilitate scheduled pickups, notifications in case of fire or malfunction of the contents, and real-time visualization of the overall situation via a graphical dashboard. The solution is designed for the Smart Manufacturing & Maintenance sector, based on cloud technology and supported by a network of innovative Industrial IoT devices in the area, detected through tags. An IoT gateway communicates the data to a remote IoT platform, which transmits warnings and alarms (e.g., emails, telegram messages), and enables real-time data visualization (e.g., graphs and tables displaying summary information on the monitored area’s status). The platform is accessible to authorized personnel (e.g., safety manager). In June 2023, the project that generated this solution won the "Best Practice for Innovation" award.
